#dsba Video Guidelines
General Information (Before you upload)
Who can participate?
Anyone with a past or present connection to UNCG which includes students, staff, faculty, parents, donors, community partners, alumni, etc. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
What is a Do something bigger altogether (#dsba) video?
It’s a 10-30 second video clip or segment produced by yourself (or a friend) that answers:
- How has your UNCG experience been meaningful?
- How have you been challenged to Do something bigger altogether?
- Or you can simply share a cool moment or something you are proud of; #dsba is about your own success, which should be self defined.
Where and when should I make my video?
Shoot your video wherever you are – we want you to be in the moment. Do note – if you are in a private establishment, you will need to get permission.
Why should I make a video? What’s in it for me?
Through these videos, we are growing our #dsba community and you could be a leader of the movement! Plus, we have some pretty cool prize packs as well. Please note videos selected for upload, as well as prize pack recipients, will be at the discretion of University Relations.
How do I make a dsba video?
It’s easy. Use your phone or a camera, turn it around and capture your moment.
How it works
- Fill out the form and upload your video. A member of University Relations will review your form and video to make sure it is complete.
- If selected, we will compress your video and add a closing graphic that will include the university’s tagline – Do something bigger altogether, as well as the university logo on a black background.
- We will also close caption (CC) your video, a university requirement.
- We will upload your dsba video to the UNCG YouTube page and email you to make you aware so you can share the page with your friends and family.
Tips
Keep it short – somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds for the spoken part. We would like for you to continue to roll the camera for an additional 10 – 20 seconds with no talking to capture the background noise of where you are shooting. Why? So we can add the closing graphics which include the university’s tagline Do something bigger altogether and the university logo. Go here to see and hear an example.
Introduce yourself by name (first, last or both) and mention your affiliation to UNCG is (student, alumni, faculty, staff, etc.)
Consider these questions as you shoot:
- How has your UNCG experience been meaningful?
- How have you been challenged to Do something bigger altogether?
- What have you done that you are proud of?
- What have you done that you think is pretty cool?
Remember that when you submit your video, you are waiving your rights to FERPA. There will be a sign off box on the form and this will cover you and any one who appears in your video segment that is identifiable.
Uphold the Values of the Student Code of Conduct. We will not accept videos that use profanity or inappropriate images.
