Kiwanis gift introduces students to nanoscience
The close proximity of the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering means students from Guilford County Schools are a short field trip away from the inspiration to imagine the world at a tiny scale. But feedback showed that, with the lack of a state curriculum for nanotechnology, local teachers have found it difficult to fully prepare their students for a trip to the graduate school.
Enter the Gate City Kiwanis. The community service organization with a long track record of working with local schools has gifted copies of an instructional manual, “Nanoscale Science Activities for Grades 6-12,” to be placed in the school media centers at every middle school in the Guilford County Schools.
